Pat McAfee doubles down on sabotage attack of ‘old hag’ ESPN exec Norby Williamson

Pat McAfee isn’t backing down.

And he wants to make it clear who exactly he does and does not like at ESPN.

McAfee made headlines on Friday when he unloaded on his “Pat McAfee Show” about people at ESPN trying to sabotage him and his program, specifically calling out executive editor and head of event and studio production Norby Williamson.

He addressed it for the first time on Monday, and stands by his sentiment.

“There’s certainly people we don’t like, certainly” McAfee said during Monday’s show. “And they do not like us, that’s how it’s gonna be, and I don’t take back anything that I said about said person.”

McAfee later added that “we all understand what the future looks like, there’s just some old hags that potentially don’t.”

McAfee had called Williamson, one of ESPN’s longest tenured employees since joining the outlet in 1985, a “rat” and suggested that he was leaking false ratings information in order to hurt his show.

— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) January 8, 2024“There are some people actively trying to sabotage us from within ESPN more specifically, I believe, Norby Williamson is the guy who is attempting to sabotage our program, McAfee said during Friday’s show.

Now, Im not 100 percent sure. That is just seemingly the only human that has information, and then that information gets leaked, and its wrong, and it sets a narrative of what our show is.

And then are we just gonna combat that from a rat every single time? Somebody tried to get ahead of our actual ratings release with wrong numbers 12 hours beforehand. Thats a sabotage attempt. Its been happening this entire season from some people who didnt necessarily love the old addition of The Pat McAfee Show to the ESPN family. Theres a lot of those.

ScreengrabMcAfee on Monday clarified that his show’s relationship with ESPN remains strong and that there are plenty of executives with whom he has good relationships.

“The only thing that I’m super bummed about it all is that a guy that we like a lot, a guy that watched the game with us in a suite, president of content Burke Magnus, who is currently the new guy in charge at ESPN and right below chairman Jimmy Pitaro. I guess he was kind of made to look bad because of what I did and how I did it,” McAfee said.

“I would like to let everyone know, we love Burke Magnus. Love Burke Magnus. And also love Jimmy Pitaro. Love Disney CEO Bob Iger. But there is quite a transition here between the old and the new. And the old don’t like what the new be doing.”

Earlier last week, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who gets more than $1 million a year by the show for his weekly appearances, suggested that ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel would be included on the list of people connected with the late convicted pedophile and sexual offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Kimmel is not on the list, and ESPN subsequently apologized for allowing the remarks on its broadcast.

Aaron made a dumb and factually inaccurate joke about Jimmy Kimmel, ESPN said Friday in a statement. It should never have happened. We all realized that in the moment.
