Bill Belichick was an ‘ass’ to me after career ended: Bart Scott

It’s safe to say Bart Scott is reveling in the decline of the Patriots dynasty.

Scott joined Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” this week and revealed that his dislike of Belichick went beyond playing against the Patriots coach in an on-field rivalry.

Pretty soon, Bill Belichick is entering the Sith Lord type of realm where I think that fans are going to start to hate him, Scott said, as covered by Awful Announcing. Theyll realize the Patriot way was more about Tom Brady than him.

Scott has previously said that if Belichick were on fire, he wouldn’t piss to put it out.

Scott said he stood by the statement: “No, I’d probably try to stomp the fire out.”

The hosts, Dan Katz and PFT Commenter, followed up asking if Scott would piss on him if Belichick apologized for mistreating him and begged him to help put the fire out.

“Bill was an ass to me on something that had nothing to do with football, like after my career. Listen, I’m an equal-opportunity asshole. I’m the candy man. Anybody can get it. I don’t care who the hell you are. If he got smoke, we got smoke. Listen: If I see him and he wants some, he can get some.”

Scott’s famous “can’t wait” exclamation came after his Jets team knocked the Patriots out of the playoffs in 2011.

Belichick apparently still took the rivalry personally years later.

In 2019, Scott explained on Adam Lefkoe’s podcast that he was working on the CBS Sports crew for a Patriots playoff game in 2015 and he was snubbed by Belichick.

Were on the sideline, its the AFC Championship, Scott said.

Me, Bill Cowher and Tony Gonzalez chopping it up. This is me and Tonys first AFC Championship. Its cool, its loud, its AFC Championship.

Belichick walks up, shakes Tonys hand, speaks to Tony. Speaks to Bill. Im literally standing we almost shoulder to shoulder. He says absolutely nothing to me, dont even look at me. At this point, Im like, bro, now youve been an ahole. Its fine youve been an ahole over there, but you came over to us, a group of us. Tony kind of gave that look like, Dont do that. I was about to say, You rude, motherfker.’
