Jim Harbaugh teases a ‘passing of the torch’ as NFL coaching rumors swirl

Jim Harbaugh may have revealed a clue as to what his coaching — or Michigan — future may look like.

When asked during an interview at a March For Life rally in Washington, D.C. on Friday about what he has been up to since his College Football Playoffnational title win with Michigan, Harbaugh said, “Just back to work, getting ready for the next season.

“There’s a passing of the torch that’s awesome.”

The speculation of Harbaugh’s future, either in the NFL or in college, started up even before the national championship game.

And now, since the end of his Michigan season, Harbaugh, 60, has been busy, taking interviews with the Chargers and Falcons for each of their head coaching vacancies.

If he were to jump to the NFL, it wouldn’t be his first time among the professionals, as he previously coached for the 49ers (2011-14), which included a Super Bowl appearance and two other NFC title game runs.

One day at a time. One game at a time. One play at a time.”

He led the Wolverines to an undefeated 15-0 season with the help of quarterback J.J. McCarthy under center, who recently declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

On top of his own future coaching decisions, Harbaugh will be cheering on his brother and head coach of the Ravens, John, as he takes on the Texans in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs on Saturday.
