Alabama coach Nate Oats shoves Missouri player in surreal scene
Nate Oats wont be winning any sportsmanship awards for this.
The Alabama Crimson Tide mens basketball coach shoved an opposing player during the first half of Tuesdays 93-75 win over the Missouri Tigers in Tuscaloosa.
The surprising incident occurred right in front of a referee, and perhaps more stunningly, Oats wasnt issued any sort of foul.
It all started when former Hofstra star and Crimson Tide guard Aaron Estrada and Missouri’s Anthony Robinson II battled for a rebound after a Tigers miss before the whistle was blown.
From there, Estrada and Tigers forward Aidan Shaw then started jawing it at one another.
But before things could escalate, Oats got in the middle of the two and used his right hand to push against the chest of Shaw, shoving the Missouri player to the side.
Oats could then be seen telling Shaw to go back to his bench.

One referee did grab a hold of Oats to prevent him from further enflaming the situation.
After the game, the Alabama coach told reporters that he had apologized to Tigers coach Dennis Gates.
Before I start talking about the game, I just want to address the situation at the under-8 media timeout, the scuffle that happened next to our bench, Oats said. Ive known Coach Gates for a long time. I was a high school coach. He was one of the best recruiters in the country.
Nate Oats put his hands on Tigers forward Aidan Shaw.I have all the respect in the world for the job hes done as an assistant and a head coach before he got to Missouri, as a head coach here. He had one of the best first years in the SEC since Ive been here in a long time. So it is no disrespect to him or his program.
“I apologized to both Coach Gates and Aidan Shaw. Aidan seems like a great kid and its an unfortunate situation, but I apologized to both of them.
The altercation led to a very strong reaction from fans on social media, with Alabama fans appearing to enjoy Oats actions while other college basketball fans were less than impressed by what he had done.
Nate Oats was not assessed any foul for the incident.Nate Oats is a clown. Ive never seen a coach be allowed to push an opposing player before, one user on X wrote.
Nate Oats is a thug, another person wrote.
I’m shocked Nate Oats handled a difficult situation poorly like that. He’s always shown such good judgment, a third person chimed in.
Alabama is 12-5 to start the season and has now won six straight games.
