Rangers fan screwed out of nearly $2K at NHL Stadium Series gets full refund, tickets for MSG game

While Anthony Dos Santos never got to see the Rangers rally from a 4-1 deficit against the Islanders at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, he will at least be getting his money and then some back after a ticketing issue kept him from getting into the game.

The longtime Rangers fan wrote on social media on Thursday that Ticketmaster had refunded the $1,644.95 that he spent on eight tickets to the Stadium Series game that he never got to see and that the Rangers would host him at an upcoming game in March.

Dos Santos, 28, had purchased eight tickets for himself and a group of family members back in October with a presale code, but when they arrived for the game on Sunday, the ticket scanners at MetLife Stadium had told them the tickets had already been scanned.

The team also promised surprises for Dos Santos and his family, he wrote.

Ticketmaster has also informed me that our money spent on the Stadium Series tickets has been sent back to us, Dos Santos wrote. I appreciate the efforts of Ticketmaster, the NHL and especially the New York Rangers, in doing their best to make up for a lost experience for my family and I and hopefully the game we attend will be an amazing experience.

A Rangers source confirmed to The Post that the team was planning on bringing Dos Santos to a game and that the organization was excited to be able to host him after learning what had happened last weekend.

It appeared that the ticket issue stemmed from a possible account takeover by a bad actor who was able to breach Dos Santos account, obtain the bar codes for the tickets and then resell the tickets outside of his account, a source with knowledge of Ticketmasters investigation told The Post.

Ticketmasters investigation noticed unusual activity the same day the tickets were posted elsewhere, the source noted, and Dos Santos will be given a $500 Ticketmaster gift card in addition to the refund for what had happened to him.

Dos Santos story resonated with hockey fans across the tri-state area after he went public on social media, accomplishing something that very rarely happens: uniting rival fan bases.

The New Jersey native told The Post previously that his post on Facebook had garnered more than 400 comments and he thanked everyone that had reached out in his post on Thursday.
