The Blame Game has become a rite of autumn and winter around the Jets.
The 13th annual installment of As The Jets Turn Your Stomach for the long-suffering faithful who will soon be reminded again what playoff teams look like.

Zach Wilson: 31 percent
Look, hes the quarterback, the reason why Woody Johnson was desperate for the missing piece, otherwise known as Aaron Rodgers.

Hes the one who drafted Wilson out of BYU with the second-overall pick to replace Sam Darnold. Right move to reset the financial clock. Wrong quarterback.
Other personnel faux pas: Failure to sign experienced veteran QB before and after Rodgers tore his Achilles. Free agents Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Mecole Hardman. Depended on 38-year-old LT Duane Brown to remain healthy. A lack of quality depth to survive injuries to Alijah Vera-Tucker and Connor McGovern. Dalvin Cook was the right idea with Breece Hall on an early-season pitch count, but did not prove to be cost-effective. Look for him to make assistant GM Rodgers and Garrett Wilson happy by trading for Davante Adams in the offseason and handing him his familiar No. 17. Garrett Wilson has already tweeted that he will be switching next season to No. 5, his jersey number at Ohio State. Remember, receivers Denzel Mims and Elijah Moore were failed second-round picks, and nobody filled the big receiver void left by Corey Davis, who quit in training camp. Carl Lawson was never the same after the Achilles. Mekhi Becton, the 11th pick in 2020, wasnt the LT for this decade.
On the recent positive side: that monster 2022 NFL draft, and Quincy Williams, Bryce Huff, Quinton Jefferson, Thomas Morstead, Greg Zuerlein and Xavier Gipson.

Danger signs began surfacing in the second half in Miami. Two players questioned the effort, technique and violence Saleh has been preaching since the day he arrived began to wilt. Its on him to keep his team motivated over these last three weeks.

We have Coach Salehs back and he has ours, Solomon Thomas said.
Rodgers has repeatedly professed his love for Saleh, and because of the power he wields in the organization, you would have to make book that Woody Johnson almost certainly would not be inclined to rock the boat and throw him and Douglas overboard and scrub the decks clean.
Saleh hasnt had a quarterback anyone could win with, but he also was not able to develop Wilson.
Saleh can coach defense, but the jury remains out on whether he can yet be more head coach than defensive coordinator. The relentless self-inflicted wounds reflect poorly on the head coach. Jets fans would trade all the happy talk about culture for one just one, playoff appearance.
The owner gave Rex Ryan four years (26-38) after those back-to-back AFC Championship game defeats. Todd Bowles got four years (24-40). Adam Gase got two years (9-23). Saleh at the end of his third year is 16-32. A look at the bright side: he has a better winning percentage than Gase (.231), Lou Holtz (.231) and Rich Kotite (.125). You are what your record says you are. Except when youre not. He was asked on Monday if he thinks he is coaching for his job these next three games: Two types of coaches, he said, those who have been fired and those who are about to get fired, my man. We coach in the moment, we coach to win a football game.
Everyone likes Saleh and the defensive players have respected him enough not to splinter over the play-calling and the quarterbacking, but he would be in big trouble without Rodgers, whose roles have included offensive coordinator, quarterback whisperer and assistant general manager.
And for Saleh, Benefactor. And for Hackett, Benefactor.
Did you realize that former Steelers Hall of Fame coach Chuck Noll was 12-30 after his first three seasons? That former 49ers HOF coach Bill Walsh was 8-24 after his first two seasons? Do you care?
Nathaniel Hackett: 10 percent
Whatever mojo he had with Rodgers, he hasnt had with Zach Wilson. Highlight was Hackett Bowl revenge against Sean Payton. Lowlight was virtually every other game. Look, over there, isnt that the end zone? A touchdown is what, six points? Did not know that! BTW, could anyone find Garrett Wilson in Miami? The prospect of catching passes from Rodgers next season is helping him keep his exasperation from running a Go pattern through his lips. Hackett needs Rodgers morethan Rodgers needs Hackett. And both of them and Garrett Wilson will need Adams to join the rest of the modern-day NFL.

The Buck always stops with the owners and the 13-year playoff drought is at the top of Woodys rsum. But lets cut him slack for this season for recruiting Rodgers.
Hard Knocks: 1 percent
Otherwise known as The Aaron Rodgers Show. Quarterback God, meet Voice of God. It wasnt the distraction as some feared. But it very well could have given the Jets an inflated opinion of themselves. After Rodgers went down, Jets players spoke predictably with bravado that their goals hadnt changed. The defensive players kept their fingers crossed that a summer mentoring from Rodgers would unlock the best possible version of Zach Wilson. It probably did.
So its Wait Til Next Year. Again. Ayahuasca, anyone?
