Minor league hockey player gets misconduct for shooting chicken nugget into stands
A chicken nugget caused some chaos during a minor league hockey game on Wednesday morning, leading to a player getting a 10-minute misconduct penalty.
The odd incident occurred during an ECHL game between the Toledo Walleye and the Kalamazoo Wings during a morning kids’ game at Huntington Center in Toldeo.
The crowd consisted of high school, junior high and elementary school-aged students, and one of them reportedly flung a chicken nugget onto the ice.
Right before a faceoff with 8:43 left in the second period, Walleye forward Kirill Tyutyayev decided to clear off the ice himself instead of waiting for someone else to clean up the arrant nugget.
However, the officials didnt take too kindly to the initiative and assessed Tyutyayev a 10-minute misconduct.
One of the kids had tossed it on to the ice. Toots decided to take care of it himself, Toledo Blade sports writer Mark Monroe posted on X.
Something gets thrown onto ice — at a morning kids game in Toledo — and Kirill Tyutyayev shoots it back into crowd. Gets a 10-minute misconduct. Gonna be interesting to see if league gives supplemental discipline. It's pretty vanilla, but they don't like shooting into stands. pic.twitter.com/ci1cd4kilw

Other than generating a bit of a chuckle, the odd moment had little impact on the game as no power-play was awarded for the chicken shot.
Kalamazoo wound up rallying from a 2-0 hole to defeat Toledo, 6-2.
