Michael Bubl regrets canceling show to attend Canucks’ Stanley Cup crusher

Michael Bubl has some regrets.

The Grammy-winning Canadian singer, a British Columbia native who is a huge Canucks fan, rescheduled the June 15, 2011 show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on his Crazy Love Tour so he could attend Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Canucks and Bruins in Vancouver.

Bubl’s hopes of seeing the Canucks hoist their first Cup were dashed as the Bruins won, 4-0, and he returned to Uncasville to perform the rescheduled show the next day to a group of angry fans.

“You know what man, that was a mistake. I look back and I go, if I had to do it over again, I wouldnt have done it,” Bubl, 48, said on the “Spittin’ Chiclets” podcast. “But dude, I canceled in Connecticut. There was a lot of people that didnt give I mean, sure, there are some Bruins fans, but a lot of people didnt care. And so when I moved it, I came back, and that night was, it wasnt great.”

“Boo birds? Thousands just, dude, boo birds? People just left,” Bubl replied. “Like, the first song finished, and people literally had just come to leave. Thats not a joke.”

Bubl then gave a middle finger to the camera, indicating fans flipped him off and walked out of the arena.

Had the Canucks been able to pull off the victory, Bubl might feel differently about the whole ordeal.

“You know whats funny, man? If the Canucks had won, Id probably have, you know, totally thought it was worth it,” he said. “But that they lost just sucked.”

Perhaps Bubl will finally get his Stanley Cup wish this season, as the Canucks entered Wednesday with 46 points, the second-most in the NHL.
