Former No. 2 pick Nolan Patrick seemingly retires from NHL at 25
Nolan Patrick is seemingly calling it a career at 25.
The NHL forward, the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, has been plagued by a debilitating migraine disorder and last appeared in a game on March 24, 2022.
A post by hockey coaching and mentorship program The Power Play announced Patricks employment as a skills specialist and video coach in an Instagram post, referring to him as a “retired pro with significant NHL experience.”

If he does decided to make it official, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native finishes his career 32 goals and 45 assists over 222 NHL games in a career marred by injury.
Drafted by the Flyers after a standout 2015-16 season with the WHLs Brandon Wheat Kings, Patrick suffered numerous concussions after posting 30 points as a rookie and 31 in his second season.
Patrick was the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. APPhiladelphia eventually traded him to Vegas by way of Nashville after the 2020-21 season, though he was only able to play 25 games for the Golden Knights, adding two goals and seven points in the ill-fated stint.
Despite not being able to play in the 2022-23 season, Patrick still earned a Stanley Cup ring with Vegas, though he did not meet the requirements to have his name engraved on the Cup itself.
He was not offered a contract after the season and entered free agency.
