Boomer Esiason nearly fought belligerent Ravens fan harassing Bill Cowher at Baltimore train station

It was an eventful commute home for the “NFL Today” crew.

Boomer Esiason explained how he, along with Bill Cowher and Nate Burleson, had to deal with an angry Ravens fan at the Baltimore Amtrak station on Sunday evening after the Chiefs’ 17-10 AFC Championship game victory.

According to Esiason, who was relaying the story Monday on WFAN’s morning show, the fan approached him and Cowher claiming that the NFL was “rigged.”

Taylor Swift was part of the fan’s theory, though the specifics of his thinking remain unclear.

Esiason suspected the fan an “asswipe, douchebag” was drunk and he was trying to ignore him and watch the NFC Championship Game on his iPad.

However, Cowher engaged the fan and a lengthy argument ensued with the fan getting in Cowher’s face.

“Coach is awesome because hell defend the NFL, like I dont want to hear crap from some drunk-ass fan who just lost a bet. He will die with that shield…,” Esiason said of Cowher.

CBS“If he gets any closer I may have to get up and fin smash this guy in the face. I am like pissed off now. I am trying to watch the game and this idiot is screaming about how the NFL is rigged and its this, that and the other thing.”

Burleson had been away from the group up to that point, but understandably became upset when returning to the scene unfolding.

“Nate is ready to come out of his suit and rip this guys face off. He was right in the middle all of it,” Esiason said.

Esiason said that given Cowher’s Hall of Fame stature and Burleson’s role on CBS News, he had the lowest profile of the trio and therefore, the least to lose if things got physical.

“If I did it nobody would have cared. If (Cowher) did it, it would have been all over the place,” Esiason reasoned, though co-host Gregg Giannotti disagreed.

Esiason, though, was able to convince another Ravens fan “Giant Analytics Guy” to intervene and help cool the tensions.

However, it still reached the point where the cops became involved before it ultimately cooled down.

“Why is this nimrod coming over to us, screaming about it being rigged and they wanted Taylor Swift in the Super Bowl?” Esiason said.

Esiason, Cowher and Burleson will be among the CBS studio crew in Las Vegas for Super Bowl week.

Hopefully, there’ll be fewer conspiracy theorists harassing them.
