Deion Sanders expected to hire Bengals assistant Rob Livingston as defensive coordinator
Deion Sanders has seemingly found his next defensive coordinator for Colorado.
Coach Prime is expected to hire Bengals secondary coach Rob Livingston to take over the vacant position in 2024, according to multiple reports.
Livingston has spent the last eight seasons in Cincinnati in his defensive role after he was a scout for the team from 2012-14.
The Bengals were ranked third in the NFL in pass touchdowns allowed in 2022 and eighth in interceptions this past season, though Cincinnati missed out on a postseason appearance with a 9-8 record.
Livingston’s expected Colorado jump will be a return to the college ranks for the former William & Mary safety.
He previously coached at Vanderbilt in 2011 as a defensive quality control coach after spending one season (2010) as a defensive coach for Furman.
Sanders was forced to fill the Colorado DC position after Charles Kelly left in December to take a co-defensive coordinator position at Auburn.

Colorado ranked as the second-worst defense in the Pac-12 in yards per game (453.3) and third-worst in points allowed per game (34.9) last season.
According to The Athletic, Sanders was planning to bring in a defensive coordinator with experience coaching in the NFL, which he had done on the offensive side of the ball when former Giants head coach Pat Shurmur joined the staff right before the start of the 2023 season.
Shurmur — who is now the program’s offensive coordinator — was handed the keys to the offensive play-calling midseason after Sanders took the duties away from Sean Lewis.
Robert Livingston is expected to helm the Colorado defense after a lengthy tenure with the Bengals. USA TODAY SportsColorado has been working to fill out its staff since the offseason started, hiring Jason Phillips as a receivers coach and Phil Loadholt as an offensive line coach in December.
Vincent Dancy was promoted to defensive ends coach for Colorado, which is making the switch to the Big 12 for the 2024 season.
