Bad beat on meaningless Brock Purdy kneel burns Super Bowl 2024 bettors
The player prop with the most bets provided the baddest beat of Super Bowl 2024.
Brock Purdy’s kneel-down with three seconds left in regulation, which sent the game to overtime, moved his rushing total from 13 yards to 12 yards.
Many bettors locked their total in at 12.5 rushing yards.
And with that one kneel, just to get the game to overtime, bettors across the country who took the Over felt the burn.
“Cost me $1200 lmao,” X user @OneMoreStrike said in a follow-up post on X.
BetMGM Sportsbook reported that the Over on Purdy’s rushing yards was the most bet-on player prop for Super Bowl 2024, which factored in his rushing prowess this postseason and Kansas City’s tendency to allow quarterbacks to scramble.
It makes it all the more painful that this prop looked well on its way to cashing early in the game.
Purdy scrambled for a 9-yard gain in the second quarter, getting him nearly over the total in just the first half.
His next rush came early in the third quarter, a 4-yard carry to push him over the 12.5-yard mark and firmly in control of an Over for bettors.
The Chiefs, though, kicked a game-tying field goal with three seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and the ensuing kickoff resulted in a touchback.
That resulted in a kneel-down rather than some lateral funny business, suddenly leaving Over bettors on the cusp of an awful beat.

— Action Network (@ActionNetworkHQ) February 12, 2024The 49ers got the ball first in overtime, but Purdy did not run on their drive that ended with a field goal.
Once the Chiefs scored a touchdown on Patrick Mahomes’ pass to ex-Jet Mecole Hardman, the Over bettors officially had lost.
While Purdy bettors were outraged, bookies also didn’t enjoy watching the game go to overtime as props and yardage totals continued to pile up.
BetMGM told The Post that 74 percent of the overall betting handle was on the Chiefs +2, while 72 percent of all moneyline bets came in on the underdog.

The massive public win was a surprise to oddsmakers, as many pros were on the 49ers with some huge single bets.
“It was a badSuperBowlfor the sportsbook,” BetMGM senior trader Tristan Davis told The Post. “Many bettors had the Chiefs winning and overs on popular player props.”
