Dak Prescott emerges as NFL MVP favorite as Cowboys surge
We could be living in a Dak Prescott MVP world — or are we?
After being as high as 40/1 to win MVP in November, Prescott is now your favorite to win the aware on BetMGM Sportsbook, coming in at +150 odds.
The impressive showing versus the Eagles on “Sunday Night Football” vaulted him up the rankings to favorite status on BetMGM due in part to some poor play by Jalen Hurts.
As of last week, MVP was nearly a dead heat three-horse race as Brock Purdy was tied with Prescott at +300 and Hurts held +350 odds.
After back-to-back losses, Hurts has fallen by the wayside and is tied with Lamar Jackson with +700 odds.
It is worth noting, though, that not all sportsbooks are posting Prescott as the favorite.
Fanatics Sportsbook has Purdy listed as the favorite at +200, while Prescott is +225.
Prescott threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles on Sunday in a 33-13 win.
But it’s not a given that he will win MVP.
The Cowboys’ remaining schedule is among the hardest in the NFL — they have a date with the Bills this Sunday, followed by a game in Miami and a home date with the Lions just before the new year.
Further down the oddsboard, two of South Florida’s best, Tua Tagovailoa (+800) and Tyreek Hill (+1300) are on the outside looking in for now.

Hill’s receiving yards total is projected at an unheralded 113.5 on BetRivers Sportsbook, one of the highest receiving totals we’ve ever seen.

In order for Hill to really get in the mix among the MVP favorites, he’ll need to surpass the 2,000-yard receiving total, which would be a record.
But even still, a non-quarterback has not won the MVP award in more than 10 years since Adrian Peterson did so in 2012.
It would take something historic to put Hill in the conversation.
